Getting a pet can be time consuming but can also be a rewarding hobby.
Kittens
Raising kittens is a win-win situation for everyone, from the small bundles of fluff to the families who adopt them. More than a business, it is like being a foster parent and you need to teach the infants about all things cats need to know. It takes many hours to turn each kitty into a wonderful friend and a quick tip is to organize your schedule to give quality time to several kittens at once. The kitties can play with you and each other, strengthening their social skills and adding to their desire to be social and friendly to people and other cats.
Kittens are born curious, part of the reason people enjoy a cat around the house. They want to investigate every bit of their area. Make the area safe while raising kittens by removing electrical cords, dangling wires and small things they should not chew or swallow. Choose cat toys that encourage play and put them where the kittens can find them easily. Clean litter boxes encourage the young cats to use the facilities. Sometimes kittens enjoy snuggling together while they sleep, but provide several beds. Provide scratching posts so they know the proper place to sharpen their claws.
A happy environment makes it easier for those raising kittens to teach them to be social and friendly. Talk to the kittens and teach them the social skills they need to know, such as no biting and scratching their furless family. Play games, hold and pet them. Clean their face and paws and brush their fur so they are used to others grooming them. Give them a variety of kitten kibble. Take them for a physical and shots before adopting them out. Be prepared to say goodbye when they leave. Remember you taught them well and another family will appreciate your care and training.
Giving a home to a kitten is beneficial to you both. You may want a purebred cat and if so, there are enough rescue organizations in the United States to help you to accomplish that too and still give a home to an unwanted kitten or cat.
If you are interested in adopting a kitten to bring into your home, some things that you might want to know and consider about the new arrival prior to bringing it into your home are the kind of care that you will want to provide as well as consideration of other things that a kitten, or any animal that you will bring home, may need.
Ferrets
A very surprising statistic regarding ferrets is that they are the third most popular pets in the United States of America, after dogs and cats. Ferrets are very excitable animals that like the cooler climates and can feel quite suffocated if the temperature rises anything above 20 degrees Celsius. Moreover, ferrets like dry temperatures and sleep for anything between 18 to 20 hours in a single day. When they do come out of their slumber, it is either to satisfy their curiosity or to reestablish their territory. If you want to keep ferrets as pets, then the most important thing for you to consider would be their personality.
Raise A Ferret
Ferrets as pets have a personality that makes them ideal companions for children or for people who have some time to relax on a regular basis. In different words, ferrets always like company and hate to be caged which is why they should never be put in one. As a result of their excitable personality ferrets seem to always be eager to play and actually wait for the moment with desperation. The usual playtime for ferrets is just before sunrise and sunset.
Ferrets, in general, do not like to be held when they are young because they like to roam free and scamper about. It is also worth mentioning that ferrets are veritable kleptomaniacs, in that they would pick up anything and displace everything that has been left in any place. As can be seen from the above, if you plan to keep ferrets as pets then you need to be available to play with them and deal with their mischief.
Here are some tips that you should keep in mind if you plan on keeping ferrets as pets.
1. When you keep ferrets as pets, you should ensure that you provide them with a litter in their cage because they need to go twice a day.
2. Furthermore, if you keep ferrets as pets, you would have to fix their bowl of water and food to the cage to keep them from spilling the contents.
3. When you keep ferrets as pets you would have to provide them with materials to play with because of their inherent playful nature.
4. By keeping ferrets as pets, you would be taking the responsibility to take care of them even in terms of their bedding which needs to have a nest like feel to it.
